At Damien High School, academic excellence is rooted in our mission of forming Men of Service, Scholarship, and Faith. Our curriculum emphasizes on college preparatory coursework, fulfilling California's standard A-G Requirements. Through rigorous coursework, students are challenged to grow academically, personally, and spiritually.
As a Catholic, college-preparatory institution, Damien provides a challenging curriculum designed to prepare young men for higher education and leadership in an ever-changing world. 
 
Damien's academic program includes a wide range of opportunities for students at every level of achievement:
 
• A comprehensive college-preparatory curriculum that emphasizes critical thinking, analytical writing, collaboration, and problem-solving.
• Advanced academic pathways including Honors, Advanced Placement (AP), International Baccalaureate (IB), and Project Lead The Way (PLTW) courses.
• More than 30 AP and IB course offerings across multiple disciplines, allowing students to pursue college-level studies while in high school.
• A 14-to-1 Student-to-Teacher ratio that promotes specialized, focus learning with classes averaging 21 students per classroom.
• A faculty committed to student success, bringing expertise, innovation, and mentorship into every classroom.
• A learning environment that integrates technology and prepares students for the demands of higher education and modern careers.
• A strong record of college matriculation, with graduates attending leading universities and colleges throughout California and across the nation.

Damien High School graduation requirements
The academic Graduation Requirements (unless otherwise modified for transfer and international students) are as follows. In the spirit of St. Damien, graduates are required to participate in our Service Learning program in each of their years of attendance. 
 
*Students earn 5 units of credit for every completed semester of coursework.
