Spartan Regiment » Overview

The Spartan Regiment is headed to the 2025 Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade®!
This marks a momentous occasion as the school’s first ever performance in the Parade’s history.

The DSR and Damien High School are honored to represent the state of California and bring the incredible talents of our Spartans to New York City for the 99th edition of the iconic holiday parade.

See below how you can help our students reach their goal of performing in this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity!
The Damien High School Music Program currently serves about 100 performers throughout its ensembles: marching band (Spartan Regiment), concert band, jazz band, guitar ensemble, indoor percussion, winter guard, and music ministry.

Our mission is to empower performers through music, discipline, and teamwork. With a focus on artistic expression and personal growth, we instill pride, dedication, and responsibility. Through practice and performances, we pursue musical excellence and nurture students' development, equipping them with the skills, confidence, and creativity to make meaningful contributions to their communities and beyond.

The Damien Spartan Regiment is a back-to-back California State Band Division 2A Champion, the 2023 Southern California School Band and Orchestra Association Division 1A Champion, and a 2023 Bands of America Regional Class A Champion. Our concert band and jazz band have consistently received superior ratings at SCSBOA festivals and our winter guard and indoor percussion have been consistently WGASC finalists.
Damien High School's flagship music ensemble. Our marching band performs at competitions, local parades, football and basketball games, school events, and high profile locations such as Disneyland, Hawaii, and the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade. Additionally, the DSR is comprised of all three members of the tri-school community: Damien, St. Lucy's, and Pomona Catholic.
The Damien Jazz Band is the top performance-based ensemble at Damien High School. This advanced group helps students develop musicianship and theory skill while providing opportunity to perform jazz repertoire at school events as well as high profile locations such as New Orleans and Knott's Berry Farm. An audition is required to join.
This ensemble performs wind band literature at festivals and concerts, while helping students develop musicianship skills. This is an intermediate group, and while no audition is required, experience is necessary.
The percussion portion of the Spartan Regiment also performs separately at indoor marching show at competitions.
The color guard performs with the Spartan Regiment in the fall then also performs independent choreographed indoor dance routines at competitions in the winter. This ensemble is open to all members of the tri-school community.
Our music ministry performs liturgical music at all school-wide and special event masses. The music ministry is open to all vocalists interested in singing at school masses.
