Junior Marco Valadez sets out to complete his Eagle Project on the Damien campus

Dear Families and Friends,

My name is Marco Valadez, and I am a junior at Damien High School. I am a Life Scout in Boy Scouts with Troop 446 and, ever since I joined cub scouts as a tiger scout, I have always sought to achieve the highest rank in scouting, the “Eagle Scout” rank.

To achieve the rank of Eagle, I must complete an Eagle Project. This requires me to plan, organize, and execute a service project that benefits a community or organization. Because of the powerful impact that Damien has had on my life, my Eagle Project will be done at Damien High School.

My plan is to build a wall in the Athletics Center to enclose a room. This service will benefit the robotics students at Damien because their current room is being shared with the engineering students and there is not enough available room for their equipment. The built wall in the Athletics Center will provide more space for the Robotics Team as it is a 56 ft by 22 ft room.

The materials required to build this wall are as follows:

  • wood studs,
  • plywood,
  • screws,
  • drywall panels,
  • drywall screws,
  • paint, and more
Along with these materials, one door on each end of the wall will be installed. The creation of the wall will kick-off the total renovation of the room for the Robotics Team.

This project means a lot to me as I am a part of the engineering program at Damien. I want to leave my mark at Damien and give back to my community and my brotherhood. I would really appreciate and accept any donations in the form of monetary, direct materials, or food for volunteers on the project execution day. My project is set to begin in March.

Thank you for your support and contribution. Go Spartans!!

Thank you,
Marco Valadez
