Legendary Damien Head Football Coach Dick Larson Passes Away

The Damien Family is sad to share that legendary football coach Dick Larson passed away last night, Sunday, Sept 1. He was surrounded by family and loved ones. Rest In peace coach, we know you are already on the sidelines in heaven.

Mass will be on Saturday, September 14, 2019 at 9:30 am in the Travers-Cronin Athletic Center at Damien High School. Immediately following the Mass will be a reception in the Event Center. In lieu of flowers, the family ask that family and friends please donate to the Dick Larson Scholarship to help support students at Damien High School.

Dick Larson roamed the sidelines and brought two CIF championships to the school during his 23-year tenure. He recorded 174 victories, had 80 of his players compete at Division I schools and 15 went on to play professional football.

He is well known around Damien for coining the phrase, “Faith, Family, Football”, which is still used today for Damien Football.
