Students will begin studying Capítulo 5A--vocabulary relating to weather,  disasters, rescues, fires, and news.  Students will continue studying the uses of the imperfect tense and the irregular preterite forms of the verbs oír, creer, leer, and destruir.  There will not be a quiz or test this week.

Students will continue reviewing the uses of the preterite and imperfect tenses and the vocabulary for Captitulo 4B.  There will be a quiz on the Block Schedule days (50 points, all multiple choice or matching) with the emphasis on vocabulary and correct usage of the preterite and imperfect tenses.

Students will begin second semester with a review of the preterite and imperfect tenses in Capitulo 4B.

el 15--el 20 de diciembre, 2016 (semester exams)

Spanish 2--Semester 1 exam  (150 points)  10% of the semester grade
Students should review vocabulary and grammar points from Para Empezar to Capítulo 4A.  (See "Visit Website" on Aeries homepage.  Students should be able to write, in Spanish, a brief summary of either "El sol y la luna" or "La Virgen de Guadalupe."  Students will need to write out the conjugations of three verbs (my choice) in the present, preterite, and imperfect conjugations. I will choose from the following verbs:  hablar, comer, vivir, bailar, beber, escribir, ir, ser, estar, tener, hacer, ver, jugar,   Students will also need to write out the prayers in Spanish--La Señal de la Cruz, El Ave María, and El Padre Nuestro.

Students will finish reading and translating "La Virgen de Guadalupe."  There will be a short (30 points) multiple choice, matching, true/false quiz on Block Schedule days over "La Virgen de Guadalupe."  Semester Exams begin on Dec. 15 for Period 4, Period 1 on Dec. 16, Period 3 on Dec. 19, and Periods 6 and 7 on Dec. 20.  Students should use realidades.com (Pearson Prentice Hall Program Page) "Visit Website" on Aeries homepage to practice and review all chapters through Capitulo 4A.

Students will be reading and translating "El sol y la luna"  this week.  There will be a quiz over this story on Block Schedule days and the binders are also due on Block Schedule days.  No late work will be accepted after Dec. 9.

Students will finish Capitulo 4A this week by reviewing the imperfect tense and the use of indirect object pronouns.  On Friday, all classes will have a 50 point quiz over Capitulo 4A  (35 multiple choice / matching and 15 fill-in the blanks with the correct form of the verb in the imperfect tense.

Students will begin studying the imperfect verb tense in Capitulo 4A and review the use of indirect object pronouns.

Students will begin Capítulo 3B by studying direct object pronouns (me, te, lo, la, nos, los, and las) and  affirmative tú commands.  

el 24-- el 29 de octubre, 2016

Students will finish Capitulo 3A  pages 126-152 with a quiz on Block Schedule days.  Students will need to know the vocabulary on pages 126 and 152 and be familiar with direct object pronouns (p. 138).  Students need to memorize the irregular preterite conjugations of  the verbs ir, ser, dar, hacer, estar, tener, and poder (pages 140, 142).

Students will begin Capitulo 3A--which includes a review of direct object pronouns, the irregular preterite of ir and ser, and the irregular preterite of hacer, tener, estar, and poder.  There is no quiz or test this week in Spanish 2.

Students will finish studying Capitulo 2B.  The grammar will focus on the preterite verb conjugations, demonstrative adjectives, and using adjectives to replace nouns.  There will be a 50 point quiz on Block Schedule days.

This week students will begin Captiulo 2B.  The emphasis in this chapter will be the preterite tense and demonstrative adjectives.

Students will finishing studying Capitulo 2A:  reflexive verbs, uses of ser and estar, and long forms of possessive adjectives.  Examen Capitulo 2A on Block Schedule days.
