Athletic Hall of Fame Induction Criteria

What is the selection process for Hall of Fame Inductees?

A selection committee will be convened with the purpose of electing new members to Damien’s Athletic Hall of Fame. The Athletic Director’s Office will provide to each committee member biographical information and other pertinent information on all nominees for review.

The committee will review and discuss the nominees at a committee meeting and vote to determine membership. The Committee will present the Athletic Director with its recommendation for induction of new members at the committee meeting.

Public announcement of the inductee(s) shall be made prior to the induction ceremony.

Who may be nominated for Damien’s Athletic Hall of Fame?

Athletes

Athletes must be in good standing. Such athletes must have competed in a sanctioned varsity sport and must have excelled in such sport. Among the accomplishments taken into account will be individual and team accomplishments, individual school or team records held, and impact on teams and the overall athletic program at Damien High School during their era and accomplishments thereafter.

Coaches and Administrators

Former coaches and administrators will be recognized for individual achievements, records, and service to the Damien Athletic Department. Candidates must also have demonstrated the highest standards while serving at Damien. The candidates must show that they taught our student-athletes to compete with honesty, integrity, and fairness, and that they demonstrated these qualities themselves while in pursuit of victories and success, during competition.

Contributors

Outstanding contributors shall be recognized for their generous and unwavering support for Damien Athletics, and it should be shown that their contributions have in some way improved or enhanced the program. Contributors must demonstrate they have given freely of their time, talents, energy, hard work, or finances, expecting nothing in return but the appreciation of the athletes, coaches, administrators, student body, faculty, and the community.
