DAMIEN HS ESTABLISHES THE NANCY A. LYNCH MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP

The scholarship has been made possible through the generosity of Jim Lynch, an alumnus of Damien, whose $50,000 gift to Damien High School was made in memory of his mother, Nancy Lynch.

“We are delighted at the support of Mr. Lynch,” said Dr. Merritt Hemenway, principal of Damien High School. “His gift in memory of his mother will not only continue her memory in an honored way, but allow future generations of Spartans to have a similar high school experience at Damien High School.”

Recipients of the scholarship will embody the values exhibited by Mrs. Lynch throughout her life – courage, courtesy, education, and helping others in need whenever possible.

“I am grateful to be able to support the Damien community and in particular, students who exhibit the values and ambition necessary to excel at Damien, but lack the financial means to attend,” said Jim Lynch. “My mother highly valued education, and throughout her life exhibited the courage, intellect, drive, empathy, selflessness and commitment to helping others that, in my view, exemplifies the best of Damien.”

"All of us at Damien High School are deeply grateful that Mr. Lynch has given back in a special way to his alma mater,” added Lisa Welch, Damien’s Director of Advancement. “His gift will surely have positive ripple effects in the Damien community for years to come.”

The funds from this scholarship will be used to support students with financial need to help pay for expenses related to attending Damien High School, which may include tuition, athletic fees and/or student activity fees. Damien High School’s Scholarship Committee will select the recipient(s) each year.

Gifts in memory of Nancy A. Lynch may be made to the Nancy A. Lynch Memorial Scholarship. For more information, please contact Lisa Welch in Damien's Advancement Office at [email protected].
