Percussion Ensemble-5th Period Assignments

Step 1: Choose a solo - you can find a solo in your Standard of Excellence book page 36-37 or choose one on your own. The sheet music and audio can also be found on SmartMusic. This is a great tool to practice your solo.
Step 2: Start practicing today!!!
Step 3: Then when you are ready to record your solo, I suggest using a metronome in your ear (AirPods, earphones) to accurately keep time and count your rests. Don't forget to wear concert black attire (tie optional). 
Step 4: Submit your solo video (not just audio) by Monday, June 1.

Create a video on what items someone needs before they can start playing their instrument. Include the instrument, cleaning supplies, stand, music, and pencil. Make sure you explain cleaning, maintenance, and repair techniques. Be as specific as possible when explaining.

Create a music video lesson explaining how to the music staff to someone that doesn’t know anything about music. Include pictures and videos as needed. Be as specific as possible when explaining. You may use the Clips apps (record, edit and make poster slides) or https://www.screencastify.com (record's your desktop screen) to create your video. Explain the following items:
-Treble or Bass Clef (what is it? where is it located? what's another name for it? why is it important?)
-Time Signature (what is it? where is it located? why do we need it?)
-How to Read Notes (what tricks are there for remembering "Every Good Band Does Fine"? where are they located? what can they look like?)
-Measure (what is it? where does it go?)

Create an Acapella song with your group. You may sing or play any instrument and choose any song. The song length must be a minimum of 1 minute and have at least 6 split screens (with everyone's face visible). You may use the Acapella app (free) or iMovie to record/edit your song. Attached are Acapella and iMovie tutorials. Be creative and have fun! Best video doesn't have to do SmartMusic assignments for a week.
