Music Theory (Period 5) Assignments

 

 

 

 

Please go through the following tutorial on making music. This may be elementary for some, but after going through it myself I can honestly say it was helpful, and fun! Once you've completed it, please write me two paragraphs about your experience. 

 

Your first paragraph should talk about what you learned going through the modules. The second should talk about your actual experience with the modules. Were they user friendly? Did they help you make some realizations? What other things do you think would be useful to add to these modules?

Using the Word Cloud you made choose a title that interests you. Once you've got that, think about the tempo, beat (genre, groove, etc...), song plot (what are you actually saying to the listener), and finally the chord progression that you think fits.

Please follow the link below to the documentary The Art of Listening. Once you're finished watching write a 2 paragraph synopsis/reaction to the film. 

 

 

Please choose a song or piece of music that you would like to share with the class. The song can be from any genre and should be something that has meaning to you. The point of the assignment is to have you study your own musical interests and then share a little bit of your personality with the class. Maybe your song has a special meaning to you, i.e., Dad's favorite song, makes you think of your childhood, etc...

A minimum of four sentences describing why you chose it, what it's about, instrumentation, etc... These are merely suggestions as each person will choose a song for different reasons. 

 

Please complete section C (treble and bass clef examples only) of this worksheet. Use manuscript paper and please be thorough. 

 

 

 

Please follow this link and spend a least 30 minutes working on interval ear training. You will need your headphones for this!

 

In the "Interval" drop down menu please start with the simple intervals, and then progress to the diatonic intervals. We will review this and do more practice when I return.

 

 

Please complete the rhythm practice packet in full! If you're unsure of how to count a rhythm, please ask me about it when we review this assignment in class. This material will directly relate to your first assessment!
