Last day to turn in extra credit poster from one of the leyendas.

Be prepared for test over "Las orejas del conejo," "El leon y el grillo," "Los novios." and "El enano de Uxmal" on this day.  100 points--matching, multiple choice, true/false--plot, vocabulary.Last day to turn in extra credit posters will be Monday, Feb. 22.

"El enano de Uxmal"  pages 33-36 in Leyendas Mexicanas. Write the Spanish in pen and the English translation in pencil or a different color of ink.  Translate the Preguntas B p. 37 into English and answer in complete Spanish sentences.  The completed vocabulary list should be attached to the end.  Staple the translation, Preguntas B, and the vocabulary in that order.  

The test over the 4 leyendas ("Las orejas del conejo," "El leon y el grillo," "Los novios," and "El enano de Uxmal")  will be on the Block Schedule Days, Block B on Thursday, Feb. 18 and Block A on Friday, Feb. 19.  There will be 100 points, multiple choice, matching, true/false -- plot and vocabulary.

"Los novios" pages 25-27 in Leyendas Mexicanas.  Write the Spanish in ink and the English translation in pencil (or a different color of ink).  Translate the Preguntas B (1-10) p. 29 into English and answer in Spanish sentences.  Define all vocabulary on the list.  Due at the end of the period.

By the end of the class period on Monday, students should be finished with the translation (Spanish/English), the preguntas B, and the vocabulary list for "El leon y el grillo"  pages 17-21.  We will be doing most of the translating during class time.  Students should be able to keep up with the class.

This week we will be reading and translating during class from the Leyendas Mexicanas book.  By the end of the period on Wednesday, students should be finished with "Las orejas del conejo" (pages 9-13)--the Spanish in ink, and the English in pencil.  Also, students should have the vocabulary and the Preguntas B finished. For the Preguntas B, translate the questions into English and answer in Spanish sentences (p. 13).

Define the vocabulary words on the list for "Las orejas del conejo" (from Leyendas Mexicanas).

Be prepared for Capitulo 5A exam  (71 points).  Bring Leyendas Mexicanas to class.  After the test, we will begin reading another leyenda.

Write out the preterite verb conjugations of oir, leer, creer, and destruir--3 times for each verb.  Make sure to use the accents correctly.  These verbs will be on the exam on Block Schedule days.  Prepare for exam by reviewing vocabulary definitions, grammar (uses of preterite and imperfect), and preterite conjugations.

Be prepared for test over "La Virgen de Guadalupe" and "El sol y la luna" today.  Extra credit posters are due today (only one poster per student from either of the two leyendas).

The complete translation, Spanish and English, the Preguntas B p. 5, and the vocabulary defintions (stapled together) are due today.  For the Preguntas B, the questions must be translated into English and answered in Spanish sentences.

On Friday, there will be a test over "La Virgen de Guadalupe" and "El sol y la luna"--multiple choice, true/false, matching.  (65 points)  

Students will work in class on writing the Spanish and English translation of "El sol y la Luna"  pages 1-4 in Leyendas Mexicanas.  The vocabulary list for "El sol y la luna" is due today.  Las carpetas de argollas (binders) are due on the Block Schedule days--Block A, Dec. 8, Block B, Dec. 9.

Write out La Senal de la Cruz and El Ave Maria (the complete prayers) three times in Spanish..

Turn in the translation (pages 53-55, Spanish/English); Preguntas B (p. 56--translate the questions into English and answer in Spanish sentences) and the vocabulary list for "La Virgen de Guadalupe" if you have not already done so.  Staple the translation, Preguntas B, and vocabulary list together before you turn it in to me.

 

If you are making an extra credit poster for "La Virgen de Guadalupe" the poster is due by Dec. 11.  You may only make one poster this quarter.

Organize binder (la carpeta de argollas).  Be prepared to show 3-ring binder with tabbed, labeled dividers.  Dividers should be labeled in Spanish, according to the directions given on the syllabus.  Put all items that you currently have in the appropriate section. Core practice pages 1-4 and Guided practice pages 5-12 should be hole-punched and in numeric order in the Tarea section.  Make sure your name, class, and period are on the outside cover of the binder.  No other classes should be in this binder, only Spanish work.  Have binder in class with you on August 17, organized according to directions given!
