Introduction to Design (Period 7) Assignments

The final will be based on a combination of an on-line test constructed from PLTW curriculum creators and this study guide.  We will work on the study guide in class when not doing Reverse Engineering Project Presentations from May 12-15th.  It is due on May 19th after the last part of the final test which will be taken over two days....40 minutes on May 18th and 40 min on May 19th.

Don't forget to answer the self reflection questions on the back of this handout due no later than Monday!! 

Reverse Engineering and Product Improvement Project

Last day to turn in any late  / missing work (including tests and labs) from this semester (all assignments listed as "graded" on Aeries) or they will be permanent zeros for the semester.  I am available at lunch Tuesday-Thursday and after school Wednesday-Friday for any help needed!  Mr. Borges will be in room 605 for an hour after school on Tuesday if anyone needs to work in the computer lab or turn in an assignment on that day!

I will be in room 605 for any help needed on Monday April 6 and Tuesday April 7 from noon-3PM

Unit 8 Button Maker Group Project should be complete.  I will be introducing the Unit 6 Reverse Engineering Project today.

All unit 7 assignments (7.1, 7.2, 7.3 and 7.4) should be complete.  

Activity 7.1 (found on the LMS) is due.  You needed to have made 5 drawing sheets of the parts shown, dimension them according to the standards listed,  and then use the snipping tool and place them in a word document and upload them to the LMS. We will begin activity 7.2 on the block day (Feb 26/27).

On Friday, January 23, in class, the Art History Project (written paper and powerpoint) will be assigned and explained and it will be due on Feb 2.  You will have the entire week of 1/26-1/30 to work on it in class while I am at the Kairos retreat.  I will be back to school on Friday 1/30 if you have any questions or you can email me as I will have email access some of the time.  I will post the written requirements on Friday.

Activity 5.4 will be handed out on the block day (1/20 or 1/21) and you will have the block day and Thursday 1/22 to work on the activity in class.  Whatever is not finished in class will need to be completed as homework and will be due on Friday 1/23.

Autodesk inventor parts to be signed off in class and then conclusion questions answered.  You will have Monday and Tuesday during class to work on this assignment. I will also be available Monday at lunch and Tuesday after school until 4:30 PM.

All user names and passwords for the LMS were passed out in class today.  This will give you and your son access to the Project Lead the Way link found on this page where all assignments given in class and all power points presented in class are located.

Study guide was passed out last week on Tuesday.  It is extra credit if turned in the day of the final.

All assignments and their due dates (due by December 3) are currently listed on the aeries grade book.  The 2 art projects are due on December 8th but will be extra credit if turned in before the 3rd.  The Monday and Tuesday (Dec. 1 & 2) we return to school from Thanksgiving break will be class days to work on the 2 art projects.  We will begin a new Unit on the LMS on December 3 with four new activities due between Dec. 4 and December 15th and then the final worth 120 points.  I will also collect the notebook one more time at the end of the semester for 50 points.

Parents: You can email me anytime to provide your son's LMS user name and password if he has misplaced the paper on which he received the information.

Remember...the last day to turn in the $25 check for the engineering notebook is this Friday, August 29 or your FACTS account will be charged instead.
