Theology I – B (Semester 2)

This is the 2nd course of the Religious Curriculum Framework designed by the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops. “Who is Jesus Christ?” is the primary question under review in this course. To answer this question, students will focus on the theme Jesus of History / Christ of Faith.

Study the Following:

  1. Know the Trinity Diagram and how the family is the perfect image of the Trinity. Review: Trinity is one large Triangle with the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit at each corner. The drawing is in your notes. The family is a smaller triangle with the father, mother, and child at each corner.
  2. Know the Ten Commandments
  3. Know what Divine Revelation means - that the 2 major ways God reveals Himself are through Sacred Scripture and Sacred Tradition
  4. Know that Theology is the Study of God and know that Christology is the Study of Jesus Christ
  5. Know that Jesus is fully present in the Eucharist in His Body, Blood, Soul, and Divinity
  6. Know what Confession is and that Confession is always available to you, and that there is no sin God will not forgive
  7. Know that the Incarnation is Jesus becoming flesh for us
  8. Know the Twelve Time Periods of the Bible and the Narrative Books that talk about them:

  1. Know the Beatitudes
  2. Know the 3 characteristics of mortal sin: (1) Grave or Serious Matter (2) Knowing it is wrong (3) Freely choosing it
  3. Know the 4 steps of Lectio Divina – Reading (Lectio), Meditation (Meditatio), Prayer (Oratio), and Contemplation (Contemplatio).
  4. Know who Father Damien is and what work he accomplished on Molokai.
  5. Know the 4 aspects of True Love or The Love Test – Love is Free, Love is Total, Love is Faithful, Love is Fruitful.
  6. Know why the Catholic Church teaches that couples should wait until marriage to have sex.
  7. Know that the 4 Gospels are Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John
  8. Know one miracle that Jesus performed in the Gospel of Matthew and know one parable that Jesus told in the Gospel of Matthew
  9. Memorize one of the verses of one of the Psalms
  10. Know why abortion is always wrong
  11. From The Passion of the Christ - know who the following people are: Jesus, Mother Mary, Peter, John, Mary Magdalene, Pontius Pilate, Simon of Cyrene, Veronica, Caiaphas, Dismas.
  12. Know what the Hypostatic Union is: that Jesus is 100% God and 100% Man.
  13. Know what Faith is
  14. Know that God created us in His image as male and female. Know that men and women are equal and that we must respect the dignity of all people.
  15. Know that the human person will live forever, and has intellect, free will, and the ability to love.
  16. Know that Jesus redeems us and gives us his grace so that we can choose the good according to God’s will and resist sin and its effects
  17. Know that Jesus invites us to believe in him, to invite him into our hearts, and to follow him and his teaching as the path that leads to life, for he is “the way, the truth, and the life” and is worthy of our belief, adoration, and love.
  18. Know that Jesus reveals the way to repentance and conversion, teaching us to leave sin behind and to live a new life in Him
  19. Know that Jesus gives us the spiritual power and grace to overcome evil; he also teaches us about God’s forgiveness
  20. Know that Jesus teaches us how to be single-hearted in our desire for God, to offset the disordered affections and divided hearts with which we live.
  21. Know that Jesus Christ reveals the Father to us, who we are, and our call to holiness
  22. Know that by becoming man, and by his Death and Resurrection, Jesus Christ unites us to God
  23. Know that we become the free adopted children of the Father through Baptism
  24. Know the two greatest commandments – love of God and love of neighbor
  25. Know that Adoration is adoring Jesus Christ fully present in the Eucharist
  26. Know that Catholics don’t worship Mary, we honor her and ask for her prayers because she is the Mother of God and our Mother
  27. Know that Mary is the Mother of God, the Immaculate Conception, ever-virgin, and Mother of the Church

Spring Gospel Video Final Project 2014

1.Read the Chapters of the Gospel you have been assigned.

2.Assign cast*:

Supporting Characters –

Narrator–

Videographer–

*You may use students from other classes / family members for extra actors if necessary.

3.Create a Video on Youtube of your portion of the Gospel. You will be showing this Video to the whole class. It must be in keeping with our school’s Catholic Christian Ethics and Code of Conduct. If it is not in any respect, the entire group will receive a zero.

4.You may use humor in your Video as long as it is appropriate and does not degrade another human person.

5.Grade will be based on:

1.Full participation of all group members – 30%

2.Full coverage of your portion of the Gospel – 30%

3.Creativity– 30%

4.Costumes / props – 30%

5.Quality of videography – 30%

6.If a group member is not pulling his weight, the other group members are to inform Miss Adams of this and that person will receive a zero.
