Course Objectives:
- To help students develop an analytical perspective on US government and politics
- To familiarize students with the various institutions, groups, beliefs, and ideas that constitute US government and politics
- To acquaint students with the variety of theoretical perspectives and explanations for various behaviors and outcomes
Course Goals:
By the conclusion of the course, students will:- acquire important facts, concepts, and theories pertaining to US government and politics
- understand typical patterns of political processes and behavior and their consequences
- be able to analyze and interpret basic data relevant to US government and politics
- be able to critically analyze relevant theories and concepts, apply them appropriately, and develop their connections across the curriculum
