For students and parents, information related to individual subjects is found on each class's Google Classroom page. If you are having trouble or need guardianship privileges (for parents/guardians), please email me at zamanis@damien-hs.edu. I typically respond within two school days; thank you for understanding.
This Year:
For the 2019-2020 school year, I have the pleasure of teaching AP Language, AP Literature, and Theater Arts. I am also the International Baccalaureate Extended Essay Coordinator and the head of the Oki Gakuen Foreign Exchange Program.
Teaching Background:
This is my 5th year teaching at Damien High School and my 7th year teaching overall. Previously, I have taught as an adjunct English instructor at ITT Technical Institute and in the writing center at Cal State Fullerton. I have always been passionate about research and academics, and I hope my passion comes across in my teaching.
Academic Background:
I graduated with a B.A. in English Literature and a Minor in Theater Arts from the University of Redlands in 2012, then earned an M.A. in English Literature from Cal State Fullerton in 2015. My Master's research and dissertation focused on aesthetic marginalia, but I also take a great interest in thriller and horror literature written specifically for children and young adults (think the Goosebumps series, Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark, etc). Next on the list: a PhD!
What I Love:
  • Reading!
  • Traveling
  • Hiking
  • My dog
  • A very large cup of coffee in the mornings
  • An extra cheese-y grilled cheese (not necessarily in the mornings)
