Religion 9

First Semester: Paths Through Catholicism
The student is invited to reflect on his own life experience in the light of the mysteries of faith. Catholic beliefs, rivals and life styles are integrated into the young person's emerging identity through a process of critical reflection. Students study the life of Fr. Damien de Veuster, SS.CC. as a model of the Catholic commitment lived to the fullest.

Second Semester: Celebrating Sacraments
This course tries to help the student see the sacred within the ordinary and appreciate how the Catholic church's seven sacraments celebrate life and put them in touch with God.

Religion 10

First Semester: Great Religions of the World
This course deals with the origin of religious awareness in human beings and its expression in the world today. It opens doors to the spiritual richness of the world's major religions, inviting students to re-examine their personal faith and religious commitment in more depth.

Second Semester: Hebrew Scriptures (Old Testament)
This course provides a comprehensive and practical discussion of the ancient writing of Israel, bringing them to life for today's student. It summarizes and explains the most important stories and passages of the Hebrew Scriptures.

Religion 11

First Semester: Greek Scriptures (New Testament)
This course provides a comprehensive and practical discussion of the New Testament.

Second Semester: Growing in Christian Morality
This course focuses on the development of virtue and character. The course enables the student to see moral questions as limitless opportunities for personal growth. The course proposes the question, "What kind of person am I becoming and what kind of person do I want to become?" It answers by offering a Christian vision centered on Jesus as the model of full humanness.

Religion 12

First Semester: Peace and Justice
Throughout its history, the Catholic Church has attempted to transform the world into the one of which Jesus spoke, where victims hold a special place and all people are neighbors. It explores the historical and scriptural call to faith and justice and then personalizes the message by examining various areas of concern, e.g. poverty, prejudice, ecology, etc.

Second Semester: Life-styles
The senior year of high school is an especially significant time for young people who are shaping their goals and hopes for the future. The course not only covers the stages of life, but also addresses identity, autonomy, love, communication, sexuality, etc. These topics are approached from a Christian perspective and are foundational to any examination of single life, marriage, religious life and ordained ministry.

Christian Leadership - 12
Pre-requisite: Recommendations and permission of Campus Minister
The senior leadership class in intended to help students prepare wisely for their respective roles as leaders, representing Damien High School, as well as assisting them in living out the Gospel challenge of love. In conjunction with campus ministry it is responsible for preparing all retreats as well as liturgies, paraliturgies, food drives, reconciliations, etc. This would include designing of major themes, music, topics, content sessions, activities, materials, publicity and logistics, including permission slips. Peer counseling is a part of this course also. The text, The Road Less Traveled, includes social justice and Christian lifestyles.Gary pwns.
