Spanish 1
Major emphasis is placed on developing the student's ability to understand spoken Spanish. Great stress is placed on correct pronunciation. The students are provided with limited facility in each of the four skills of language learning: listening, reading, speaking, and writing.

Spanish 2
Prerequisite: "C" grade or better in Spanish 1
In Spanish 2, emphasis is placed on developing a keener understanding of structure, grammar, and dialogue.

Spanish 3
Prerequisite: "C" grade or better in Spanish 2
Major emphasis is placed on the student's ability to express himself in oral and written forms on a limited number of literary works suited to his skill. Stress is also placed on the student's ability to read and understand such literary works.

Advanced Placement Spanish Language
Prerequisites: "B" or better in Spanish 3 with the approval of department chairperson
Course material will be presented at the college level. The advanced curriculum will entail a more detailed analysis of Spanish structure and grammatical elements, Conversation skills, vocabulary development and more varied Spanish idioms will be emphasized.

Advanced Placement Spanish Literature
Prerequisites: "B" or better in A.P. Spanish Language and approval of the department chairpesron.
Thi scourse covers the six Spanish authors selected by the College Board. It stresses literary comparison, critique and creative writing.

German 1
An introductory course which emphasizes the audio-lingual approach in language learning in connection with basic concepts of grammar, and sentence structure. We also expose the students to some of the culture, geography and history of German speaking countries.

German 2
Prerequisite: "C" grade or better in German 1
In German 2, we again emphasize the oral approach. In addition, the concepts of grammar studied in first level are reviewed, reinforced and expanded. Conversations, dialogues, and drills are more advanced. We continue to deepen our study of German culture, geography, and history.

German 3
Prerequisite: "C" grade or better in German 2
Students study a number of literary works that represent the German speaking world as well as various regions of Germany. The course is designed to integrate the maturing language skills of the students with a growing understanding of the German.

Advanced Placement German Language
Prerequisites: German 2 or German 3 with "B" grade and approval of Department Chairperson
This course is designed for serious students who wish to continue their study of German on the college level. The advanced curriculum will entail a more detailed analysis of German structures and grammatical elements. Conversation skills, vocabulary development and more varied German idioms will be emphasized. Students will be required to do additional literary readings and analysis of these works.

French 1
An introductory course which emphasizes the audio-lingual approach in language learning in connection with basic concepts of grammar, and sentence structure. We also expose the students to some of the culture, geography and history of French-speaking countries.

French 2
Prerequisite: "C" grade or better in French 1

French 3
Prerequisite: "C" grade or better in French 1
Students study a number of literary works that represent the French speaking world as well as various regions of France. The course is designed to integrate the maturing language skills of the students with a growing understanding of the French speaking world. The course also presents a systematic review of the basic grammar of French together with intensive language practice to increase the student's ability to handle everyday situations in French.

Advanced Placement French Language
Prerequisites: French 2 or French 3 with "B" grade and approval of Department Chairperson
This course is designed for serious students who wish to continue their study of German on the college level. The advanced curriculum will entail a more detailed analysis of French structures and grammatical elements. Conversation skills, vocabulary development and more varied French idioms will be emphasized. Students will be required to do additional literary readings and analysis of these works.
