Damien Alumnus Ian Johnson's 240-yard, five-TD night fuels Boise State E-mail

Original Article By ESPN.com

BOISE, Idaho (AP) -- When Ian Johnson came to Boise State, the program was flush with running backs. As Johnson says, he was just seeking "a piece of the pie."

On Thursday night, the sophomore introduced himself as the signature back for the Broncos' potent offense, which isn't just about throwing the ball anymore.

Showing speed in the open field, the power to break tackles and patience in waiting for holes, Johnson rushed for a career-high 240 yards and five touchdowns in the Broncos' 42-14 rout of Oregon State.

LA VERNE - Bellflower St. John Bosco had different ideas about the storybook ending.

Junior Nick Arellano kicked a 44-yard field goal as time expired as Bosco stunned Damien 31-29 in a nonleague game Friday night at Damien High School.

But after Damien players stormed onto the field, officials put time back on the clock, ruling that Banks had reached the

sideline in time. Morrison said he would not dwell on that officials' decision.

On his first pass of the game, Riverside Poly's Ryan Nordbeck was picked off by Trevor Stokes. Three plays later, the speedy Williams ran it in from 18 yards out, bringing the score to 12-0.

The Bears continued to struggle on offense on their next series and were forced to punt.
