Mr. Richard Vasquez

I have 15 years experience in education, the first 2 years having been spent teaching for the Los Angeles Office of Education, working with high risk youth. As a member of the graduating class of 1987, I returned to Damien as an educator in the Fall of 2000. Along with teaching, I have served as Dean of Discipline, and Freshmen counselor.

I am a member of the social science department, teaching world history and freshmen seminar. I have a BA degree in history from California Baptist University.

60 Minutes Hard Times

The two 60 minute videos, are great examples, of what millions of children are dealing with, every single day. My goal is to get my students to have a greater appreciation for what they have, and a determination to get their education and accomplish all their goals. 

Topic for Week of 9/14

We will be discussing poverty in America, and specifically how it affects children, emotionally, physically, and academically.

Week of August 24-28

We will spend the week in the DRC, students will choose 3 colleges/universities of their choice, and find out what it takes to get accepted to those institution. There is a career interest paper that they will need to write. The directions and format for the paper will be attached to the class.

WEEK OF AUGUST 10-14

We will be discussing "How to get good grades"
Students will learn the SQ3Rs, which will help with reading comprehension.
