Sports Medicine Club - Established in 2007 by Mrs. Jessica Truax. This is where students get to be involved in the sports medicine program at Damien High School. Students will participate in the Athletic Training Room (ATR) after school for a minimum of 3 days a week for all of our several sporting events throughout the school year. They get to work with Damien's Certified Athletic Trainer's, Team Physician and University athletic training students with the treatment of the various athletic injuries that may occur. Ms. Gabbie White currently oversee's the club students. 
 
Sports Medicine Competition Team - Students from the Intro to Sports Medicine class, Athletic Training class and the Sports Medicine Club are welcome to put their skills and knowledge to the test! They study anatomy, physiology, CPR/AED, first aid, orthopedic assessment and general medical conditions. They compete in March in the AACI/ NHSSM State Sports Medicine Competition held at CSUN and in May the students will compete in the AACI National Sports Medicine Competition. We have been competing since 2013. In that time we have ranked in the top 10 for California every year, except our first year. We have ranked 2nd in the Nation in 2017, 4th in the Nation in 2018 and 6th in the Nation in 2019 in the small schools division.Our highest ranking students (now Alumni) were Lili Gomez (SLPHS '18) and John Gomez (DHS '16). John individually ranked 3rd in the Nation for small schools division in 2016. His sister, Lili, individually ranked 4th in the Nation in 2017 and 2nd in the Nation in 2018!    
All members must maintain a GPA of 3.0 minimum.
